The first semester of 2011 was particularly fruitful for the CSFRS which continued its mission of identification and forward-looking analysis of strategic issues.
In partnership with the IHEDN and the INHESJ, the second National Forum on strategic research was held on June 8th on the theme "France, Europe and the World. Strategic flows and tensions: States at the crossroads". During the Forum, very diverse topics such as cyber defence, sustainability or challenges in Afghanistan were freely discussed. The event brought together French and international experts and researchers, but also participants from all horizons, eager to understand the strategic issues of the future.
After a year of intense collective work, the members of our scientific council published their first report. This crucial document, intended to focus future strategic research, consists of nine sections addressing such diverse themes as information technology, sustainable development, geostrategy and conflicts or natural and health risks. The full report is available on our website.
The 2010 call for proposals allowed us to select and finance six projects. This year, a new “non thematic” call for proposals has been launched and will be open until September 15th. We are counting on your boldness and creativity to make this call for proposals as dynamic as possible.
Our partnership with the AFD gave rise to a call for proposals on the theme "The Niger risk, analysis of factors and recommendations", and two others projects on resilience and the crisis are currently under consideration.
As from September, several meetings and publications will mark the coming year. In particular, the CSFRS will take part in two international conferences, in Beijing and Istanbul.
It is now time for a break. The CSFRS team hopes you enjoy your holidays and looks forward to hearing from you in September.
